Award-winning soprano known for her stylish interpretation of baroque music, intelligent command of contemporary repertoire, and alluring stage presence has performed all over the world in opera, concert and recital.
Winner of the Royal Over-Seas League vocal prize in 1998 and the Kathleen Ferrier Award in 2000, Gillian sang with Sir John Eliot Gardiner in his Bach Cantata Pilgrimage through Europe and in the US as soloist in dozens of Bach Cantatas, and recorded the newly discovered 'Gloria' by Handel with Gardiner and English Baroque Soloists for Philips.
Making her debut in 2002 with English National Opera in Deborah Warner's acclaimed 'St John Passion' and her Royal Opera debut in 2004 as Tytania in Britten's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream', Gillian became a regular on some of Europe's biggest stages, performing leading roles with all the UK's major companies, most notably Zerbinetta in Strauss' 'Ariadne aux Naxos' with Royal Opera in 2008, as well as appearances with some of the biggest companies, festivals, orchestras and concert halls in Europe and North America, including Netherlands Opera, Bregenz Festival, Wigmore Hall, Edinburgh Festival, Boston Symphony Hall, Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Tafelmusik, Houston Symphony, New Zealand Festival, and many more.
